Professor Erich Schleier, Berlin, has identified the present painting as an autograph work by Giovanni Odazzi from the period around 1720. Odazzi was a pupil of Ciro Ferri and was subsequently trained by Giovanni Battista Gaulli. In 1706, he became a member of the Accademia di S. Luca in Rome. Odazzi‘s works, most of which are frescoes, can be found in numerous Roman churches.
